Ellon and District Men's Shed
Installation of Solar Panels and Battery System
Funding awarded: £18,903
About this project
The installation of 10 solar panels and battery storage will allow the Ellon Men’s Shed to meet demand and expand, whilst reducing both energy costs and carbon footprint. The Shed aims to reduce the detrimental health impacts of loneliness, isolation and inactivity by providing a safe hobby and social space - with workshops, social areas and other facilities for members and the wider community.
We plan to increase our refurbishing and community support activities (eg. warm-space café and community education). The project can make this happen cost-effectively, whilst heading for Net-Zero. It will be an exemplar solar project for Aberdeenshire.
